  • Bent parts??? There's always a reason

    Filed to Uncategorized

We unloaded the car tonight and got eveything ready for Saturday except the new clutches.  There was a little more damage than we thought.  We have been running a bent A-arm all year.  We repaired the rear trailing arms, replaced the rear brake caliper line, fixed the shocks, bled the brakes, and changed a few tires.  We will be installing the clutches tomorrow, cleaning the trailer, and make a couple extra trailing arms.  THIS WEEKEND IS $1000 to WIN!!

  • Lon, we have a problem......

Hot Laps and Qualifying went great.  The car was handling well, but we think the clutches are causing my slippage on the track, not the tires....  After 3 or 4 laps in the heat, Brandon spun in turn 4.  I had a quick decision: Hit him in the door full speed, or attempt to swerve towards the wall....  I chose the latter and smacked the wall.  I climbed the wall and almost rolled.  I hit the wall hard enough to bend two wheels, break the front weight jack, and break a trailing arm on the rear end.  Our night was over......

The parts have finally arrived.....  I ordered a new Triple Pass radiator to lower the temperatures, four new springs, and a new 3HP High Torque starter.  We are supposed to be getting some additional shocks tonight or tomorrow.  Come hell or high water, we will get that car handling!!!!!

Well, we were able to get the car to go around the track.  The track was not in good shape.  It was dry-slick by the time we even got to our heat races.  All I could do is spin the tires in the heat, so I bumped the timing back about 6 degrees for the feature.  This helped with the tire spinning, but not with the overheating.  The car reached 260 degrees in the feature....  Looks like we need to go to plan D to keep the car cool.......  I have a feeling there are going to be MANY parts purchased this week for the car: Triple Pass Radiator, Shocks, Springs, Starter.......  Any who knows what el...

We started on the car last night.  We changed the springs, shocks, and cleaned the radiator.  We have made some major adjustments to the car.  Last night while changing the solenoid on the starter, the nose broke on the starter...  I have a couple being shipped and will hopefully be here Saturday....  We will see....

Well, we finished in 12th position this week, but we have a lot of work to do on the car.  We couldn't get the car to bite on the track for anything.  The track was a little rough from the Late Models.  Every time I'd hit a rut, I'd bounce to the top of the track.  I ran the entire race about half-throttle.  We have some issues with the springs/shocks.  After finished 5th in the heat race, we checked the shocks.  The LF shock was junk.  So we used a spare from Brent to see if it would make a difference.  The car was bottoming out during the heat, but didn't in the feature with some adjustments...

We are going to build a shroud for the radiator tonight and remove the starter.  I'm going to take the starter to B&M tomorrow to see what the cost will be to fix it.  We will also be making an adjustment to the shifter as I lost 3rd gear at the track.

Well, Murphy's Law was in full effect.  Due to the time constraints, the Street Stocks were not able to hot lap or qualify.  So my first time on the track in the new car was in the heat race.  Well, while I was in the shoot, the ignition module burned up and I didn't get to run the heat.  There were not enough cars for the consi, so my first lap was taken with 20 other cars on the track.  Well, by the time I got on the track, the temp was 240 degrees.  I took it easy for a couple of laps but it didn't cool down.  So I pulled in during a caution and had the track official spray the hose on the ...
